The England international was a somewhat surprise signing by Liverpool on deadline day, joining for £40million from the Gunners despite not always being a regular at the Emirates Stadium.
Klopp is thought to rate Oxlade-Chamberlain highly, and Barnes has explained the qualities he brings that will have made him an attractive prospect to the German tactician.
Barnes also believes the 24-year-old’s versatility means he could occupy one of three central midfield positions or either side out wide in the club’s front three.
This signals a likely change from the end of the player’s time with Arsenal, when he was largely used as a wing-back on either the right or left-hand side.
‘For Liverpool, I think he is a good signing because he is a Jurgen Klopp-type player,’ Barnes told HITC.
‘Jurgen Klopp likes players who play with high intensity, high energy. He can play in one of the three midfield positions. He likes players who are very direct, very strong, very quick, which is what he brings.
‘He can also play in one of the wide positions in terms of where (Sadio) Mane or (Mohamed) Salah plays. I think he is a typical Jurgen Klopp-type signing.’

Oxlade-Chamberlain had been in the final year of his contract at Arsenal, and refused to sign a new deal before being offloaded by Arsene Wenger.
Chelsea had also pursued the former Southampton youngster this summer, though he is reported to have snubbed the Blues in favour of joining Liverpool.
