Arsenal smashed their club-record on Wednesday after Arsene Wenger sanctioned the £52million purchase of the now former Lyon striker, who scored 37 goals in all competitions last season.
Wenger is keen to continue his summer spending spree by adding a versatile winger to his squad and has identified Lemar and Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez as his top two targets with the 21-year-old France international said to be his preferred choice.

Arsenal had an opening bid of around £30m rejected last week and an improved offer of £40m is expected to be rebuffed by the French champions, according to reports in France.
Lacazette and Lemar are said to enjoy a close friendship and have been chatting regularly since they linked up together on international duty last month as part of Didier Deschamps’ squad which drew against Sweden and beat England in a friendly.
Monaco remain determined to hang on to one of the jewels in their crown and have taken a similar hard-line stance with Kylian Mbappe, who has also been the subject of serious interest from Arsenal.

The desire of the Ligue 1 champions to resist any bid for Lemar has seen Arsenal reportedly enter into initial negotiations with Leicester for Mahrez.
However, both clubs are said to be £15m apart in their valuation of the 2015/16 PFA Player of the Season with the Gunners prepared to pay no more than £35m.
