Antonio Conte has urged Chelsea’s board to bolster his squad with new signings before the transfer window closes.
The Premier League champions have brought in Willy Caballero on a free transfer from Manchester City, while Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata have also arrived for combined fee in excess of £130 million.
But Nemanja Matic has since been sold to Manchester United, while Diego Costa is also in the middle of negotiating his transfer away from Stamford Bridge.
And Conte has stressed that his squad will be too small to cope with the demands of Champions League football, plus a Premier Leeague title challenge.
‘Now for us it’s very important to try to improve our squad, in the numerical aspect, we have a small squad,’ said the Chelsea boss.
‘I think only one player is not enough to improve our team, we need more players, not of top level like Neymar, but more players to improve our squad, our quality, and our numerical aspect, now we are a few players [short].
‘I think the best way also to speak about the club and to try to find the right solution, its important for me that the club knows my opinion about the number we need.

‘I think it’s not right to tell this through the press, also because if I say one, three, four, and it doesnt change.
‘The most important thing is the club knows my opinions, they are trying to do the best for our team, for our squad, now we have to wait, we must have patience, to try to improve our team, our squad.’
