Arsenal have entered the race with Manchester United to sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea, according to reports in Italy.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Arsene Wenger’s side have proposed a swap deal which would see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain head to Stamford Bridge in return for the Serbian midfielder.
Manchester United are believed to be leading the race for Matic with reports claiming that the 28-year-old is pushing for a move to Old Trafford where he would link up with former boss Jose Mourinho.
United are ready to pay £40million for Matic but Mourinho’s side face competition from Juventus and Inter.
Chelsea are ready to let the midfielder leave having virtually completed a deal to bring in France international Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, who will partner N’Golo Kante next season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, meanwhile, has just one year left on his current contract with Arsenal and reports are claiming that the 23-year-old will not commit to a new deal.
Last season the England international found himself becoming something of a utility player as Arsene Wenger shifted him around the pitch to cover other areas. Having spent six years at Arsenal he is still to become a consistent first-team player at the Emirates.

‘It’s obviously an interesting position for me, it’s new.
‘I have to focus on the defensive side of things and I’m not used to being a right-back.’
Liverpool are understood to have registered their interest, while the winger has also been linked with a move to Manchester City.
