Chelsea have completed the signing of Exeter City starlet Ethan Ampadu.
The 16-year-old midfielder made 16 appearances for the League Two club last season and has had trials with both Manchester United and Liverpool.
But Chelsea have won the race and must now agree a compensation fee with Exeter after Ampadu failed to sign a scholarship deal.
Ampadu’s father, Kwame, is also Arsenal’s Under-18s coach.
‘Everyone at Exeter City fully supports Ethan’s decision to sign for Chelsea,’ Exeter manager Paul Tisdale told the club’s official website.
‘He had many options available to him and has decided that Chelsea provides him with the best opportunity to develop the next step of his career. We wish him the very best of luck.

‘Ethan is another in a long line of home grown players to graduate through our academy into our first team.
‘At Exeter City FC we will continue to support our youth system by encouraging and promoting our young players into competitive senior football when they are ready.’
