Chelsea are ready to break a transfer record twice in one window as they pursue deals for Alex Sandro and Virgil van Dijk, reports claim.
The Blues are set to make Brazilian Sandro the world’s most expensive defender this week as they close in on a £61million move for the Juventus full-back.
David Luiz holds the record for most expensive defender, with his switch to Paris Saint-Germain costing the Ligue 1 giants £50m some three years ago but Sandro’s move is set to smash that.
The 26-year-old will arrive at the same time as Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko in a £37m deal, as Antonio Conte prepares to get his summer spending well underway.
However, he will not stop there and will pursue a deal for Virgil van Dijk.

Chelsea will test Southampton’s resolve with an opening bid of £60m but that is set to rise as the Saints hold out for a £70m offer, which will see the Blues break the transfer record for a defender twice.
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku remains a big target, in a deal that’s expected to come to roughly £75m and the Premier League champions’ summer spending could easily eclipse £250m.
