If you were confused by Danny Welbeck’s goal celebration for Arsenal in tonight’s win over Southampton, then you’ve come to the right place.

Pep Guardiola hits back at Chelsea boss Antonio Conte over transfer market dig

The England international marked his return for the Gunners with two strikes at the St Mary’s Stadium on the way to an emphatic 5-0 victory, and enjoyed the moment by celebrating in style.

For those less in touch with viral internet memes, Welbeck’s rather unusual celebration was in reference to an Instagram video posted by this man:

This is art of Meat🔪#salt#saltbae

Somehow managing to make chopping meat look sexy and stylish, Turkish chef Nusret Gokce put the finishing touch on this dish by flamboyantly sprinkling a dash of salt over it, with the hash tag #saltbae.

Welbeck is clearly a fan, and he is not the first footballer to mimic the pinch of salt manoeuvre in a goal celebration since the video went viral last week.

So there you have it, in short: a man on the internet did something with some meat and a footballer imitated it after doing a goal.

What times we live in.
