Zinedine Zidane’s side have again been linked with De Gea this summer but Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the Spaniard is staying at Old Trafford this season.

De Gea was one of United’s best performers in their 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid in the Super Cup on Tuesday night and McManaman says the goalkeeper is a certainity to join the La Liga giants in the future.

‘They’ll end up taking him off United, definitely,’ McManaman told BT Sport.

‘They’ll take him next year or the year after. In the end if United aren’t delivering the trophies that De Gea wants, he’ll want to move to Madrid.

‘He’s a Spanish boy. He’ll end up going back that way, it’s just when.’
