Eric Bailly appeared to confirm that free agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to return to Manchester United with a message to the striker on Instagram.

Ibrahimovic, 35, who arrived at Old Trafford on a one-year deal last summer, scored 28 goals in 48 appearances in his opening campaign but serious ligament damage in the Swede’s right knee cut his season short.

Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his interest in re-signing Ibrahimovic and reports suggest the veteran forward will join up with his former team-mates once again before the summer transfer window slams shut.

The ex-Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star has been given permission to use United’s training facilities and, on Sunday evening, sent a clear message to Mourinho on Instagram.

In the short clip, Ibrahimovic can be seen kicking a punching bag, suggesting that he is edging ever closer to a full recovery following knee surgery back in May.

Before long, United defender Bailly responded with a brilliant video of his own.

‘Hope you’re almost ready to return, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I’ll be right here!’ the caption reads.

Hope you're almost ready to return, @iamzlatanibrahimovic, I'll be right here! 😎👊🏾

‘It was very clear from him that what he did last year was not enough for him.
