Everton have submitted a £39 million offer for Benfica forward Raul Jimenez, according to reports in Portugal.
Record claim that Ronald Koeman’s side have made the bid but have been told by the Portuguese champions that they will need to increase it to £44m in order to land the 26-year-old.
Jimenez, who has also been linked with Liverpool and West Ham, struggled for playing time last season and started just six league games.
In January, the Mexico international was reportedly the subject of a £44m offer from the Chinese Super League which was rejected by Benfica.
Everton are in the market for a new striker but have already signed Sandro Ramirez from Malaga.
A deal to sign Wayne Rooney from Manchester United is close, while Koeman’s side are also keen on a keen on Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud.
