Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has denied he’s ever had a problem with Jose Mourinho and says the Portuguese boss is the perfect fit for Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old was sold by Mourinho to the Red Devils in 2014 and he was heavily linked with a move away from the club after Mourinho’s appointment last summer.

Mata, though, has retained a first team spot and Mourinho’s spoke glowingly of the Spaniard’s performances this term.

And, ahead of tonight’s Europa League semi-final clash with Celta Vigo, Mata insists there are no problems between him and Mourinho.

Asked what’s changed between now and his stint at Chelsea, Mata told El Pais: ‘The context, the club, the squad and the way of playing have all changed.

‘I’ve never had a bad relationship with him. We’ve never had a discussion. Our relationship is normal.

‘It was simply that, at Chelsea, he wanted to play in a certain way and at United there are other types of players more in accordance with my characteristics. We’re both the same, we haven’t changed.’
