Sadio Mane is rapidly closing in on a return to full fitness, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed.

The Senegal international has been out of action since April after suffering damage to his left knee.

The club are currently in Hong Kong while Mane remains on Merseyside, however the striker will be able to hook up with the rest of his team-mates on the next phase of pre-season.

Liverpool travel to Germany next when they play three matches – against Hertha Berlin, Bayern Munich and then either Atletico Madrid or Napoli.

It’s been announced that Mane will be present on that trip to Germany – although he’s not expected to play a part.

The former Southampton player will however be able to return to full training once the squad returns to England.

‘Sadio is on the way back,’ Klopp told the club’s official website. ‘The plan is he will come with us to Germany.’

Klopp continued: ‘The plan is he trains completely normally with us when we are back in England.

‘We have been waiting long enough for him now. He is around (Melwood) all of the time and is in pretty good shape.

‘Unfortunately he was not ready to train, but he looked good, [the injury] looks good and so now he should be fine when we get back.’
