Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe has hinted he could leave the club this summer by admitting he will ‘consider opportunities’ that come his way at the end of the season.
The 18-year-old’s lit up Ligue 1 this season and has 23 goals in 39 appearances for Leonardo Jardim’s table-topping side.
The teenager was handed his first international cap for France after a meteoric breakthrough campaign with Monaco and has been heavily linked with a host of top European clubs.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all thought to be interested but Real Madrid remain Mbappe’s most likely destination.
Kylian Mbappe | What the experts say
Thierry Henry: ‘My word, he is good. Ooh la la. I met him, and he gave me the impression that he has a good head on his shoulders. l really like watching him play. When I watch him dribble, he’s thinking. He thinks when he plays and that for me is the most important thing in a player. He thinks. He uses his brain. Yes, he’s quick, but he’s thinking and that is the sign of a kid who can go a long way in the game.’
Arsene Wenger: ‘He is not exactly Thierry Henry but it is true that he has similar qualities and the future and talent is similar. The potential is similar, after that if he has the same level of motivation, desire and intelligence that Thierry has, and the next two to three years will tell us that, then he can be very promising.’
Radamel Falcao: ‘He is a very good player, very young and he is proving himself in every game. He always tries to show up and contribute to the team. I hope you understand.’
Antonio Conte: ‘I don’t like to speak about players from other teams but in this case I think it’s normal to tell that he’s a really good prospect. He’s a prospect who’s very important for football. For sure, he’s very young and he’s [got] a lot of room to improve. He has great characteristics to become a top [player].’
And the forward’s done little to dampen the speculation surrounding his future by admitting he will ‘consider’ his options when the season ends.
‘The summer transfer window is long, I will have time to think about my future,’ said Mbappe after Monaco’s 2-1 defeat to Juventus.
