Manchester United are keeping tabs on Fiorentina ace Federico Bernardeschi as a possible alternative to Ivan Perisic, reports say.

Jose Mourinho is keen to bolster his squad at Old Trafford with a number of signings over the coming months and Inter Milan’s Perisic is a top target.

Real Madrid give Man United three reasons Alvaro Morata's price tag is £70-80m

But Serie A giants Inter value Perisic at around £48million, leading United to explore other possibilities in case they fail to force through a move for the Croatia international.

According to Football Italia, another target for the Red Devils is Bernardeschi, who scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 40 games for Fiorentina last season.

The Italian winger, who is currently at the U21 European Championships, is expected to be on the move this summer after refusing to extend his contract in Florence.

Juventus are understood to be in pole position to land his signature, considering launching a substantial offer in the next few days, but United are also expressing interest.

Mourinho’s hopes of signing the former Chelsea target may be boosted as it is claimed Fiorentina are against the idea of selling Bernardeschi to a league rival.

United could be set to miss out on Renato Sanches, however, with the Bayern Munich teenager distancing himself from a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
