Manchester United hired Juventus‘ chief scout Javier Ribalta last month, in a move which largely went under the radar, but the Spaniard’s close relationship with Alvaro Morata could be key this summer.
Ribalta is set to work alongside United’s chief scouts Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout at Old Trafford and his capture is being viewed as a savvy piece of business from the Red Devils.
Reports suggest Jose Mourinho is desperate to wrap up a move for Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata ahead of United’s pre-season tour and it appears Ribalta could play a major role in wrapping up a deal for the 24-year-old.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Juve’s ‘best kept secret’ has maintained a close relationship with Morata for some time and was involved in the striker’s first exit from Real Madrid back in 2014.
It’s understood Ribalta was even invited to Morata’s wedding at the end of last month – but it’s not clear whether he actually attended the ceremony in Venice.
Following Morata’s high-profile wedding, his new wife, Alice Campello, hinted that a move to United was on the cards by following the Red Devils on Instagram.
