Michy Batshuayi is set to stay at Chelsea this season and battle with Alvaro Morata for a first-team spot after impressing Antonio Conte in pre-season, reports say.
The Belgium international was set for a loan move after struggling to make an impact in the 2016/17 season – starting just one Premier League game under the Italian boss after a £33million move from Marseille.
But Batshuayi’s pre-season performances have impressed Conte and his staff and after scoring three goals in his last two outings against Arsenal and Bayern Munich, the Chelsea boss has had a change of heart about letting him leave, according to the Evening Standard.

Conte refused to grant him too many first-team chances behind Diego Costa last year but he is starting to find faith in the 23-year-old.
Despite Morata’s arrival, which will cost the club up to £70m, Batshuayi will still hope to force his way into Conte’s thoughts for a starting berth as the Spaniard looks to adapt to life in the Premier League.

Chelsea were looking to sign another striker – with Fernando Llorente tipped to move to Stamford Bridge – but their plans may have changed slightly given Batshuayi’s rich vein of form.
Conte is, however, still hoping for at least three more arrivals during the transfer window as he looks to defend the Premier League title and launch an assault on the Champions League.
