Neymar has explained his reasons for quitting Barcelona to seal a world-record £199million transfer to Paris Saint-Germain after the deal was announced this evening.

The 25-year-old has become the most expensive player in football history, more than doubling the £89m Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba just a year ago.

Mourinho's right: Why Neymar's £198m move to Paris Saint-Germain is actually a bargain

Long regarded as one of the top footballers on the planet, Neymar joined Barca in 2013 and rose to prominence alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, in what is regarded as one of the finest attacking trios of all time.

However, Neymar has turned his back on the Catalan giants’ history and success for a surprise move to PSG, who have only emerged as a major force in the European game in the last few years.
