Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku trained together in Los Angeles as the striker closed in on a £75 million move to Manchester United.
United agreed a fee with Everton on Thursday and it’s understood that the Belgium international had his medical in the United States later that day.
Lukaku had been expected back at Everton to start pre-season but it’s now likely that the striker will remain in LA in order to link up with Jose Mourinho’s side, who fly out to the United States on Sunday to begin their pre-season tour.
Chelsea were in pole position to sign the 24-year-old but earlier this week, United were given an indication that a deal for the striker was possible.

Lukaku is now set to be United’s second summer signing after they secured a deal for Victor Lindelof from Benfica last month.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have turned their attentions to Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and Torino’s Andrea Belotti as alternatives to Lukaku.

United ended negotiations with Madrid this week after the Spanish champions refused to lower their €90m (£79m) asking price for Morata.
Belotti, who has also been considered by United, will command a similarly high fee as Torino are adamant that the striker will not be sold for anything less than his €100m (£87.6m) release clause.
